La chimiothérapie au cisplatine est un traitement efficace pour les enfants atteints d’hépatoblastome à risque standard, mais qui peut entraîner une perte auditive significative et permanente. Des chercheurs ont trouvé que l’administration du thiosulfate de sodium (STS), un antioxydant, à des enfants âgés entre 1 mois et 18 ans, traités au cisplatine, était
associée à une réduction de l’incidence et de la gravité des effets ototoxiques sans compromettre la survie globale. Détails des résultats.
